Isaiah 46
1
Bel stoops, Nebo bends··over; their idols◦ are for the animal and for the beast; your burdens are loads, a burden to the fainting.
2
They bend··over, they stoop together; they are· not ·able to escape the burden; and their soul has gone◦ into captivity.
3
Hearken to Me, O house of Jacob, and all who are left of the house of Israel; you who have been laden from the belly, who have been carried from the womb.
4
And even··to old··age, I◦ am He◦, and even··to gray··hairs, I◦ will bear··the··burden◦; and I◦ have made, and I◦ will carry; and I◦ will bear··the··burden◦ and I will deliver◦ you.
5
To whom will you liken Me, and make· Me ·equal◦? And to whom will you make· Me ·similar, that we may be··alike?
6
They consider as worthless from the pouch, and they weigh silver with the reed; they hire a refiner, and he makes it a god◦; they adore, yea, they bow· themselves ·down.
7
They bear it upon the shoulder◦; they bear··the··burden◦ of it; they place it in· His ·stead, and it stands still; from its place it does not depart; indeed◦, he cries to▵ it, and it answers not; from his adversity it saves him not.
8
Remember this, and make yourselves men◦; return it upon the heart, O transgressors!
9
Remember the first things from an age; for I▵ am God◦, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none◦ like▵ Me,
10
telling the latter things from the beginning◦, and from ancient times what is not yet done, saying, My counsel shall rise··up, and I will do all My delight,
11
calling from the sunrise the raptor, and from a far-off land the man◦ of My counsel; yea, I have spoken, yea, I will bring it to pass; I have formed it, yea, I will make it.
12
Hearken unto▵ Me, O ye bullish of heart; ye who are far from justice:
13
I will offer My justice, it shall not be far distant; and My salvation shall not delay; and I will give in Zion salvation; to Israel My splendor.
