Isaiah 6

1 In the year in which Uzziah the king died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, exalted and lifted··up; and His skirts were filling the temple.
2 Seraphim standing above Him, six wings, six wings to each one; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he did fly.
3 And one called unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is Jehovah of Armies! The fullness of the whole earth is His glory!
4 And the posts of the doorways were shaken by the voice of those who called; and the house was filled with smoke.
5 And I said, Woe to me! For I am cut··off; for I am a man of unclean lips; and in the midst of a people of unclean lips do I dwell; for my eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of Armies.
6 And one from the seraphim flew to me, and in his hand was an ember, which he had taken with tongs from upon the altar,
7 and he caused it to touch my mouth, and said, Lo! This has touched thy lips, and thine iniquity is removed, and thy sin is atoned··for.
8 And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? And I said, Behold me; send me.
9 And He said, Go, and say thou to this people, Hearing hear1 ye, but you will not understand; seeing see ye, but you will not know.
10 Make··fat the heart of this people; make· its ears ·heavy, and besmear its eyes, lest it see with its eyes, and with its ears hear, and its heart understand, and turn··back, and there be healing done to it.
11 And I said, Until when, O Lord? And He said, Until the cities be laid··waste so that there be no inhabitant, and the houses, so that there be no man, and the ground be laid··waste into2 a desolation,
12 until Jehovah cause man to be··far··away, and there be much forsaken in the midst of the land.
13 But still in it shall be a tenth part, and it shall return; and it shall be for sweeping··away, as the strong··oak and as the holly··oak when the stump is cast··away from3 them; its stump shall be4 a seed of holiness.

1The doubling of the verb is quite common in Hebrew, and is translated with this repetition in the Heavenly Doctrine (see the note at Genesis 2:16).
