Psalms 18

To the victor; of the servant of Jehovah, of David, who spoke to Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah rescued him from the palm of the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
And he said,I will love1 Thee,O Jehovah my strength;
Jehovah is my Rock, and my Bulwark, and my Deliverer;My God, my Rock, in Him I will confide;My Shield, and the Horn of my Salvation, my High··Tower.
I will call··on Jehovah, who is to··be··praised;And from my enemies I shall be saved.
The cords of death enclosed me,And the brooks of Belial alarmed me.
The cords of hell surrounded me;The snares of death confronted me.
In my adversity I called··upon Jehovah,And cried··out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple,And my outcry before Him came into His ears.
And the land tottered and quaked,And the foundations of the mountains trembled,And they tottered,For He Himself was··incensed.
There went··up a smoke out of His nostrils, and fire from His mouth devoured;Coals burned from Him.
And He inclined the heavens and came··down;And dense··darkness was under His feet.
And He rode on a cherub and He flew;And He soared on the wings of the wind.
He put darkness for His hiding··place,His shelter all around Him, darkness of waters, thick··clouds of the ethers.
From the brightness in··front··of Him, His thick··clouds passed,Hail and coals of fire.
And Jehovah thundered in the heavens, and the Most··High gave forth His voice,Hail and coals of fire.
And He sent His arrows, and scattered them;And many lightnings, and routed them.
And the channels of waters were seen,And the foundations of the world2 were revealed,From Thy rebuke, O Jehovah,From the breath of the spirit of Thy nostrils.
He sent from on··high, He took me;He drew· me ·out of many waters.
He rescued me from my strong enemy,And from those who hated me, for they were too obstinate3 for me.
They confronted me in the day of my downfall;But Jehovah was a stay4 for me.
And He brought· me ·forth to a broad··place;He set· me ·free, for He delighted in me.
Jehovah has recompensed me according··to my justice;According··to the purity of my hands has He returned unto me.
For I have kept the ways of Jehovah,And have not acted··wickedly against my God.
For all His judgments were in··front··of me,And His statutes I turned· not ·aside from me.
And I was perfect with Him,And I kept myself from my iniquity.
And Jehovah has returned to me according··to my justice,According··to the purity of my hands in··front··of His eyes.
With the merciful Thou wilt make··Thyself··merciful;With the perfect man Thou wilt be perfect;
With the purified Thou wilt purify Thyself;And with the twisted Thou wilt struggle.
For Thou wilt save the afflicted people;And the exalted eyes Thou wilt bring··low.
For Thou wilt light my lamp;Jehovah my God will brighten my darkness.
For with Thee I run through a troop;And by my God do I leap a wall.
As for God, His way is perfect;The sayings of Jehovah are refined;He is a shield to all who confide in Him.
For who is God, besides Jehovah?And who is a rock, except our God?
The God who girds· me ·with valor,And makes my way perfect.
He disposes my feet as those of the deer;And makes me to stand on my high··places.
He teaches my hands for the war;And sets··down a bow of bronze in my arms.
And Thou hast given to me the shield of Thy salvation; and Thy right··hand sustains me,And with Thy meekness Thou hast multiplied me.
Thou enlargest my strides under me,And my ankles falter not.
I will pursue my enemies and overtake them;And I will not turn··back until they are all··consumed.
I will strike them and they shall not be··able to rise;They shall fall under my feet.
And Thou wilt gird· me ·with valor for the battle;Thou wilt make those who rise··up··against me stoop··down under me.
And thou hast given to me the neck of my enemies,And those who hate me, I will cut· them ·away.
They shall cry··out, but there will be none to save;Unto Jehovah, but He will not answer them.
And I will pound them as the dust before the faces of the wind;As the mud of the streets, I will make them empty.
Thou wilt deliver me from the strivings of the people;Thou wilt set me for the head of the nations;A people whom I have· not ·known shall serve me.
At the hearing of the ear they shall hearken to Me;The sons of the foreigner shall deny themselves unto Me.
The sons of the foreigner shall fade··away,And shall tremble··forth from their enclosures.
Jehovah lives; and blessed be my Rock;And exalted be the God of my salvation,
The God giving vengeance to me;And He subjugates peoples under me;
He delivers me from my enemies.Yea, Thou exaltest me from those who rise··up··against me;From the man of violence Thou rescuest me.
Therefore will I confess Thee among the nations, O Jehovah,And will sing··psalms to Thy name;
Who makest··great the salvation of His king,And doest mercy to His anointed,To David and to his seed, even··to eternity.
