Psalms 26
1
Of◦ David.
Judge me, O Jehovah, for I◦ have walked in my integrity;And I have trusted in Jehovah; I shall not falter.
2
Test me, O Jehovah, and tempt me;Examine my kidneys and my heart.
3
For Thy mercy is in··front··of my eyes;And I walk in Thy truth.
4
I have not sat with vain mortals;And with those who hide◦ themselves, I will not go··in.
5
I hate the assembly of evildoers,And with the wicked I will not sit.
6
I will bathe my palms in innocence;And I will surround Thine altar, O Jehovah;
7
To make the voice of confession to be heard,And to recount◦ all Thy wonders.
8
O Jehovah, I love the abode of Thy houseAnd the place of the habitation of Thy glory.
9
Gather not my soul with sinners,Nor◦ my lives1 with men◦ of bloods2;
10
In whose hands is a crime,And their right··hand is··full of a bribe.
11
But I◦, in my integrity, will I walk◦;Ransom me, and be··gracious··to me.
12
My foot stands in uprightness;In the assemblies will I bless Jehovah.

2Explaining Genesis 4:10-11, the Arcana Coelestia comments, “‘Bloods’ are mentioned in the plural, because all unjust and abominable things gush forth from hatred” (n. 374:3).
