Psalms 9
1
To the victor, on a muthlabben1; a psalm of◦ David.
א I will confess Jehovah with all my heart;I will number all Thy wonders.
2
I will be··glad and will triumph◦ in Thee;I will sing··psalms to Thy name, O Most··High.
3
ב When my enemies are returned backward,They stumble and perish from Thy face.
4
For Thou hast done judgment for me and my cause;Thou sattest on the throne, the Judge of justice.
5
ג Thou hast rebuked the nations, Thou hast made· the wicked ·perish,Thou hast wiped··out their name to eternity and forever.
6
ה As to the enemy, wastings are finished perpetually; And Thou hast plucked··up cities; the remembrance of them, even of them◦, has perished.
7
ו But Jehovah will sit to eternity; He will prepare His throne for judgment.
8
ו And He◦ will judge the world with justice; He will make··judgment··for the peoples◦ in uprightness.
9
ו And Jehovah will be a High··Tower for the contrite,A High··Tower for times in adversity;
10
ו And those who know Thy name will trust in Thee; For Thou hast not forsaken those who inquire··after Thee, O Jehovah.
11
ז Sing··psalms to Jehovah, who dwells in Zion;Tell among◦ the peoples His actions.
12
For He who inquires··after bloods2 remembers them;He forgets not the cry of the afflicted.
13
ח Be··gracious··to me, O Jehovah; see my affliction from those who hate me,Thou who liftest· me ·up◦ from the gates of death;
14
So··that I may recount◦ all Thy praises in the gates of the daughter of Zion;I will rejoice in Thy salvation.
15
ט The nations are sunk in the ditch which they have made;In this net which they concealed is their foot captured.
16
Jehovah is known, He has done judgment;A wicked one shall be snared◦ by the work of the palms of his hands. Higgaion3. Selah.
17
י The wicked ones shall be turned··back into◦ hell,All the nations who··forget God.
18
כ For the needy shall not perpetually be forgotten,Nor4 shall the hope◦ of the meek perish forever.
19
Arise, O Jehovah; let not man▵ be··strong;Let the nations be judged before Thy face.
20
Put fear into◦ them, O Jehovah;Let the nations know they◦ are but man▵. Selah.

2Explaining Genesis 4:10-11, the Arcana Coelestia comments, “‘Bloods’ are mentioned in the plural, because all unjust and abominable things gush forth from hatred” (n. 374:3).
3This perhaps indicates a pause for meditating, as “higgaion” means meditation in Hebrew.
